A history of belts

I was curious to see pics of my karate journey, so I scrounged around on this journal looking for pics to document my karate journey thus far.

I started karate in September 2005, and I guess I managed to test right off the bat, because as of December 2005 I was able to take this picture in my brand new orange belt. But I see that I still hadn't quit mastered the fine art of TYING the belt yet....

March 2006. Sensei convinced me to try out my very first tournament. What he DIDN'T tell me is that Zen-Kanto is a pretty high-level tournament. D: I got creamed by a black belt in my first round. But I was just happy to have survived!

August 2006. Right after the tournament where I lost miserably in the first round, and RooG won the entire thing. This is also the first day we started to consider ourselves as boyfriend and girlfriend. =D

September 2006. I can has stripe! And a busted wrist too, apparently. (Busted wrists were very common in those days, and I still get them occassionally...)

June 2008. I was a green belt forEVER. I forget when I actually got my green belt, but to get a stripe on that belt I had to test three times. -___- A harrowing experience, but it's made me stronger I guess.

By the looks of things, I'll probably be a brown belt forever too. It takes a long time before you're even considered ready to take the test to become a black belt. And that's ok. I wanna be the best brown belt EVER!
