Blue belt/ Hug tornado

FRIDAY!! Patrick went to work and I headed to the dojo. At the beginning of class Sensei presented me with my blue belt! Look out, badass coming through!

Ok, forgive the shitty picture and my red face (I had just finished 2 1/2 hours of training), but you gotta admit, the blue belt is cooler than the orange was and certainly a helluva lot cooler than the white!!1

After class it was just me and Muraki left training; everyone else, even Sensei, had to leave. The week before Patrick had shown me a kick called the Hug tornado, basically a back spinning hook kick, but you hit with your heel. Last week in class I tried it with Yuna on the big mit and both she and Sensei said it was good, but I'd never tried it in combat before. In the middle of the second rount of kumite I remembered the kick and thought, what the hell, and busted out a left roundhouse followed by a Hug tornado off the right leg. Muraki made a noise and kinda crumpled to the ground.

My immediate reaction was :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, pure horror and panic. I thought for sure I'd fucked it up, done something terrible like hit her in the spine or something. But Muraki was just like "THAT WAS GREAT!! :D", but she was still on the ground, clutching her side. I hit her exactly where you're supposed to, in the liver. "YOU JUST WON THE FIGHT IN ONE MOVE!!! :D", she was yelling. Of course I felt really bad about hurting her, but she just kept saying over and over again that it was great and that I should definitely bust those out at the tournament. Anyway, it represented a little victory that made me really proud of myself. I'm gonna work on that kick some more.

Classes were good but I was so TIRED at the end. My Odyssey at the end had seven students. The speech topic was "Talking about a controversial issue", and students were supposed to argue their point on an issue, such as gun control or smoking in public or something. One lady wrote a speech entitled "I Oppose the Weekly Weather Forecast" dfjsjfjkajd

The past week I've been doing that brain training game (actual title: Nou wo Kitaeru Otona no DS Training) for Nintendo DS. The game has declared my mental age to be 70, but in my own defense, some of the questions trip me up simply because my Nihongo ain't so good. Patrick's is 59. >_> But the game kicks ass, it's fun and addicting and it's improving both my brain and my Nihongo!
