And forget the fact that Seifer just barely recovered from the injuries from his last match. Forget the fact that he has no guardian forces, nor access to magic. Forget that Hades is a freaking god, Seifer was heading toward his box with a purpose, the Olympus Coliseum detachment of the IDPD close behind, consisting of a few travelers with magic powers, and some magical creatures native to Olympus. As soon as he got into shouting distance, he unholstered Hyperion with one hand and pulled out his police badge with the other.

"In the name of King Mickey, I demand that you release them! These refugees are his responsibility, and putting them in harm's way with no means of escaping now puts them under the jurisdiction of the IDPD. You'll either release them, or I'll make you release them."

Look, Seifer, you lost the battle its understandable to be upset about that. Hey, no one wants to lose, right? So why don’t you and your little entourage just turn around and head back to your seats. I’m a forgiving God… I can overlook this glaring moment of sheer stupidity… since you seem to have forgotten this is my Underworld and the only one who gives orders here is me.

Bye bye now, enjoy the show.

"This isn't about me losing any damn competition, you lily-fresh expression of the greatest joys of life." If Dead-insults didn't work on him, maybe the other route would. "Let them go, and I'll give you me."

Cue eye roll.

“Ah yeah… let’s see… I give up about a half dozen hero-types and in return I get… you? How is this a good deal? Try and check your ego, kid, I mean really! You have much too high an opinion of yourself! Sheesh! Your worse than Zeus!”

Totally dismissing Seifer for a second time.

Seifer looked at him for a moment before dismissing his cadre. "So, you're willing to give up the man who helped cause his universe to cease existence at all points in time, who was a general for a country's army that spanned two continents, nuked two rival mercenary groups, and caused a massive natural disaster against its largest city? Six heroes may be impressive, but it's the merit behind them that causes the soul to be greater or lesser."

He regarded the people fighting down in the Underdrome for a moment. "Let's not forget I'm one of the guardians of this world, as well as the director for the refugees' police force. I might not have been here long, but I know how you work. You're not content with just Tartarus and the rest of the Underworld. You want the universe. Take me, and it can be infinitely easier. You kill these guys, what do you get? The Chief of Radiant Garden dead, some witch out of the way, an unimportant loudmouth gone, and the death of a dragon rider."

"If you won't take the full offer, pull Zell and Sephiroth

Disappearing from the Private booth only billow in behind Seifer as a cloud of black smoke a moment later.

“As impressive as that mortal stuff is,” Said as if he didn’t find it impressive at all as he takes solid form again, “You obviously aren’t aware of the abilities some of these people possess. Don’t be hard on yourself, I keep up with these things…”

Of course Hades shows no sign of explaining what these people can do, what magic they might have or what feats they might have performed back on their worlds. No, he instead intensely scrutinized Seifer. What a strange offer he had just made, really bizarre for a hero-type. It made him curious.

“Its alright if I kill everyone else as long Zell and Sephiroth make it out? Is that really the kind of deal a hero would make? Heh. So what is it about those two in particular, hm?”

Seifer cocked his head to the side at the question. "If you've really been keeping tabs on the people in this competition, you should know that I never did the hero thing that well." He gestured down at the fighting below. "Less than two months ago, I was trying to kill the one with the face tattoo."

He leaned against the wall of the underdrome as he watched the fight. "Sephiroth is under my direct care. His well being is part of my job. Zell's one of the few people left from my world. I don't know any of the others. There's my motive. I'd rather them all be saved, but what do you care? Besides, no one's beyond temptation. Save a few souls today, they're feeding out of your hand tomorrow. If they're dead, they're of no use to you."

At the should know that I never did the hero thing that well Hades takes on a new animated air making his point by gesturing at Seifer with a flourish waved hand.

“That is my point exactly! You have never been good at the hero business so why this sudden noble streak of yours? Why give up your soul for some guy under your command and the guy you tried to kill? It just doesn’t seem like your nature…”

But, Hades moved aside to consider this offer of Seifer’s anyway. One the one hand he could end up with a strong fighter in his employ but on the other hand those two trapped in the arena were… also strong fighters.

“You see, you have this whole numbers problem. Maybe I would consider giving up one of them for you but two… eh, I’d rather have them dead. Even if you say they would be no use to me like that you seem to have forgotten who you are talking to again. Hades, Lord of the Dead. Of course they would be useful to me if they died! Why do you think I set this whole thing up just to find the strongest most dedicated fighters? Just ( ... )

"What I told you is all you need to know," he snapped, not willing to give up the new aspect of the relationship he and Zell had discovered. He started pacing, bringing Hyperion up to his shoulder, repeatedly tapping the dull side there as he moved. "Dead souls, yes, but once they're here, what good are they to you? They're just swimming along forever in a river of souls. Neutered. They know they're gone, so why should they help you? In fact, I bet they even resent that you keep 'em here."

He sighed and stopped in front of him. "So my soul alone's not enough to get all of them out. But you're about bargaining. What could I give you that would make you consider them? I'm not selling my soul to get out just one person."

“Look, I have been straight with you people from the beginning. I said right from the start of this competition that this was just so I could kill a few hero-types. Now that I have them all in my arena about to be eaten by my Chimera… you want me to let them go? I can tell you this right now,” Such a smirk he levels at Seifer, “…not happening.”

Hades begins to glide away, just far enough so he can place a hand on the invisible barrier keeping those fighters trapped within it.

“They are going to stay right here.” Turning back to face Seifer with an arrogant flourish of his hands, “You actually care you those two don’t you? Heh, well, in that case I tell you what, I will let them go.”

Wait for it, there is always a catch to these things.

“I will make sure those two are the first souls to enter the Underworld!”

With that Hades disappears in a cloud of black smoke, only to reappear a few minutes later hovering next to his chimera and altering its orders.

As he listens to the change, his eyes widen. Bounding down the steps in great leaps, he makes it to the lip of the fighting- no, killing ground and leaps over the edge....only to be flung back into the stands by the barrier. He got to his feet in anger, snarling at the world at large. "You bastard!" The words rang through the stadium as he made his way back to the private booth and leaped toward the throne, Hyperion in hand.

The cadre he'd brought with him was moving through the stands rushing people out of the Underdrome as quickly as they could, though it seemed to be more or less a lost cause as people shuffled to different areas whenever they clear one.

And so Seifer charges an empty private box since Hades hadn’t decided to return there after giving the Chimera its marching orders. A fact that becomes painfully obvious when Seifer reaches the empty throne sitting there… all by itself…
Ah, but he isn’t alone there for too long as the glee filled laughter coming from behind indicates.

“What? You expect to fight me in my Underworld? You don’t even stand a chance.”

It didn't stop him from trying, however. In a fit of anger, Seifer slashed at the god, trying as hard as possible to damage him. If he'd managed to kill Odin, the closest thing his world had to a god, just maybe this would hurt him.

Unfortunately… in the Underworld the power of mortals was diminished while Hades only became stronger. Without the power of a God to back him up Seifer’s attack was completely useless. The sword just brushed harmlessly by Hades while the God laughed mercilessly at the attempt.

“See? I told you. There’s nothing you can do. So, why don’t you just sit down!” An explosion of flame propelled Seifer backwards into the throne still sitting in its place. He wasn’t injured really, just bound tightly to the seat by a few surprisingly powerful coils of smoke. “And enjoy the show. Heh, you should enjoy this…”

Hades added as he walked over to lean on the back of his throne and smile down at Seifer, “this will be the last time you see those two… well, alive anyway.”
Cruel? You bet! There was nothing Hades enjoyed more than being cruel.
