What: Just a little bit of quiet singing before bed. She's done a pretty good job of smothering it ruthlessly throughout the week so far, but... Who'd be crazy enough to plow through two districts of Heartless in the middle of the night? She figures no one's going to find her out there.
World | Location: Traverse Town; Third District clock tower

A falling star ...
The walk hadn't taken very long, really.
And... rather alarmingly... the process had been much more painless than she had originally expected. After taking such care in reacquainting herself with sensations that occupied the Realm of Light, revisiting the solitary prospect of taking to the streets in the dead of the night should have been terrifying to Aqua. Putting herself in a position where she had to defend herself was just one step closer to how she had squandered years of her life...
The most difficult part was not the walk, however. Or even fending off the Heartless that slithered from the shadows at every bend of the sidewalk.

Vanquishing the denizens of consummate Darkness came as naturally as breathing to a woman hardened by loss; She hadn't yet found the necessity to sully her Master's weapon on the creatures. Fire magic was the most concise and effective tool for her journey to the Third District. Neither the clap of thunder nor the clashing of ice would have been appropriate for a sleeping town... And there was the added benefit of illumination when her magic met its mark.
The part of her evening walk that truly required a steeled will... it was leaving the boys behind in the hotel room.
... and landed in my eyes.
There was no logical reason for her to be concerned for them. Their current condition -- together, protected -- was the best that she could have imagined, the best she could have hoped for. They had wounds that they sought to heal at the side of one another and she would allow them all of the time in the world to regain some sense of comfort... before she told them the atrocities that still haunted the shadows of her memory. But still, conquering the overwhelming need to remain unerringly close for the rest of the night had been a difficult feat, and now that she had reached her destination, she couldn't look back.
And now...? Now there she was, sitting at the peak of the peculiar building at the far end of that Third District, armored feet dangling carelessly over the clocktower's ledge. The Darkness was eradicated from her sanctuary -- for now, at least -- and she could rest easy.
At last. A small window of privacy... what felt like worlds and worlds away from the laughter and confusion of Traverse Town's musical castaways.
She'd known better than to bring the communicator along. It was too easy to make an accident... to give herself away. If she was going to relieve the swelling melody that had lodged itself so stubbornly in the back of her throat, then there could be no spectators to the deed. Just herself. To vocalize it, perhaps... would be the window to understanding it.
After another moment of uncomfortable waiting passed without incident, the Master crossed her legs, covering her heart with one hand and then the other before taking a shaky breath.
"♩ The stars... the moon...
They have all been blown out."
Just a quiet, breathy melody for the time being. As though she were surrounded by sleeping beasts that could spring to life at any given moment.
"♫ You left me in the dark.
No dawn, no day..."
A pause. Had she toiled so hard at stifling the words that she couldn't remember them anymore?
No... That couldn't have been it. She was just thinking about it too hard. Relaxing her shoulders, she bowed her head and tried to erase the frown from her brow.
