When the Senator approached him, wanting to head out to look around in another world for a while, Obi-Wan couldn't refuse. It had been a relief to get out of Twilight Town and away from the other Jedi. He needed to clear his head and he couldn't confide in the one person he wanted to most. Qui-Gon had warned him before about meddling too much with the future, but Obi-Wan resolved that he needed to know. Never would he stop believing they could change the course that Starkiller and Luke's time took. ...And then there had been the revelation that Qui-Gon would die in the Battle of Naboo, merely hours after the moment when Obi-Wan was taken by the Darkness. The news had shaken him, even while he had suspected it when both Padmé and Anakin had made it a point to avoid his questions about his Master. He couldn't let that happen. He wouldn't.
The Jedi were taught to accept death when it came, but he had been given the chance to save Qui-Gon and he would take it. It would be his first step towards creating a better future. He believed that was the will of the Force.
Difficult though it was to break himself from distressing thoughts, Obi-Wan willed himself to think optimistically and of happy things while he piloted the gummi ship towards Beast's Castle. No need to pull a Leroy, after all~. He smiled fondly for a moment; he'd really come to think of their strange group as a family. That was enough to fill him with joyful thoughts. Such a great thing had been birthed from the disaster that was losing their home to Darkness. He wasn't sure where he'd be without them.
He glanced over to Padmé once they landed, flashing a smile as he slid out of the pilot's seat. "We're here safe and sound," he remarked in a cheerful tone in spite of himself. "What was it you wanted to look at, M'lady?"
