Let me give you all a word of advice.

I lurve books on tape and CD. My favorite to date is, of course, White Oleander, as read by Taylor. However, I've also gotten Life of Pi, and Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes (which I highly recommend ( Read more... )

Believe it or not? Yeah, that's the way it is when Ray Bradbury reads his own stuff. He did that for Farhenheit 451, and maybe I was just extra-picky since I love that book so much, but the recording reeeeally suuuucked...

If you want a good recorded book, try to get hold of A Wrinkle in Time as read by the author. Or any of The Dark Is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper; I forget who reads it, but he is AWWWEEESOOOOME. (No, I'm not partial to British accents. Prrow. Hee.) The first book mentioned has got to be my all-time favorite recorded book. Madelleine L'Engle just does a really super spectacular job.
