This is unbeta'd and I didn't read it again after writing it. I'm kind of tired, haha.

For asu_chan because it's her birthday and she was my first "fan", lmao. j/k. I sure hope the Pudd loving's all right with you. ;) i'll have some more Flones up very soon. Happy Birthday! x

Dougie opened the door to his hotel room and immediately turned on all the lights. The ceiling light, the light in the attached bathroom, the lights on the bedside tables next to the kingsize bed and the desk lamp on the wooden table across from the bed.

Without speaking a single word, he pulled all the spare blankets from the cabinet and dumped them on the bed, not even looking up when he heard someone enter the room and then lock and barricade the door even though he gave a small frightened squeak. His fingers were shaking as he unfolded the blankets. Never, never again would they make him do something like this. Ever!

The younger boy toed his shoes off and then climbed onto the bed and under the blankets, curling himself into a tiny ball. Hugging himself, he did his best to stop shivering but he wasn't very successful. His eyes were squeezed shut and he desperately tried to get warm but no matter how many blankets he had wrapped around himself, the cold seemed to come from within. What was he supposed to do? What if he never got warm again?

Dougie let out another squeak when the bed dipped beside him but soon relaxed into Harry's embrace. The older boy held him tight, hugged him to his own warm body and slowly, very slowly Dougie felt his body warm up just a little bit. Teeth chattering, he turned in the drummer's arms and hid his face in Harry's chest, trying to move even closer, perhaps even trying to crawl beneath the dark-haired boy's skin. " 'm scared," he muttered, concentrating on taking deep and calming breaths.

The drummer rubbed Dougie's back reassuringly, letting him know that he'd be there, that he wouldn't leave him alone. "I know. It's okay. No one's gonna hurt you."

The sandy-haired boy shifted, moving closer still, pushing Harry on his back and climbing on top of him, still not satisfied with the drummer's attempts to soothe him.

Pursing his lips, Harry looked at the top of Dougie's head which was all he could see, really since the boy's face was buried in his jacket. "Dougs. I promise that I won't let anyone do you any harm."

"Really?" The younger boy all but squeaked, moving his head and lifting it off of his bandmate's chest until he could glance up at him, frightened blue eyes meeting equally blue but not quite as frightened eyes. The expression in Harry's eyes could be described as... protective, perhaps even determined.

Harry nodded and gave the younger boy a small smile, then rolled them back over until they were both lying on their sides, facing each other. Dougie didn't even flinch when the drummer moved his left leg over both of the blond's legs, giving the younger boy the opportunity to snuggle even closer.

A soft sigh escaped Dougie's throat as he gripped fistfuls of Harry's jacket and rested his cheek on the drummer's chest. "I love you, mate."

Harry smiled, even if a bit wistfully. He loved Dougie just as much, if not more. The younger boy was the only thing that had got him through this whole awful experience. The need to protect the petite boy and the fact that Dougie had been even more scared than Harry was what had helped him try and at least act somewhat brave.

The older boy planted a kiss on Dougie's head and squeezed him lovingly. Maybe one day he'd have the courage to tell the younger boy that he loved him back. For now it was enough to hold him and feel the bassist relax into his embrace. It was okay because he knew that Dougie needed him just as much as he needed the quirky younger boy.

Letting his own eyes droop shut, Harry laid his head on top of Dougie's, slowly starting to feel safe with the lights turned on and the blankets keeping them warm as the older boy tightened his grip just a little bit more, his own body relaxing when Dougie let out a contented sigh. Perhaps all those stupid tapping noises and feelings of paranormal presences had been good for something.
