My future is so bright, you're gonna need sunglasses!

Dartmouth is trying to start a love affair with me. They keep chasing me, trying to make me fall in love with them. Tempting me with free trips to their campus and lots of special little letters and calls and whatnot.

I think it's working. If Dartmouth wants me that bad, then why not give them what they want?

Yeah, so remember that essay I wrote that I posted up here to have you guys edit? That was for a program called, "Destination Dartmouth." In this program, they send out about one hundred applications to prospective students (and I was the only one in my school to get one) to fly up to Hanover and stay on campus for a few days. About forty of those one hundred get it. The big thing about this, though, is that Dartmouth pays for everything. Not a dime comes out of your pocket.

I'm heading for Hanover in a week.

So I figure, since Dartmouth is that interested in me, why don't I just apply early decision, (most likely) get in, and end my college admissions process there?

Nope, not that simple.

Somewhere during my stay here, I started looking at some schools that I had ruled out years ago, mainly Yale. I checked out some of their "What makes our school special" crap, and it was actually very appealing. And lately, Brown has started to look really great. All the undergrads here are amazing, and if I don't get the same feeling with the undergrads at Dartmouth that I do with Brown, I may very well end up applying ED to Brown. But then Yale still sticks out there. I know I probably won't get in, but the admissions process at the ivies is a total crapshot, and I might have a lucky day or something.

And then there's the "not ivy" schools. I cannot get over the University of Chicago. I, for some reason, am completely in love with that school, almost as much as Brown and Dartmouth. But it doesn't have the prestige that a school like Brown or Dartmouth has. I decided that I'm not applying to any "small, liberal arts colleges" that Madnikoff has been trying to play up, so that helps immensely in cutting down my list.

Ok, so here's what I think I want to do.

1. Apply to U of Chicago Early Action. No Early Decision schools. I figure if I get into U of Chicago, then I'd be pretty content with that over almost all schools 'cept the ivies.
2. If I don't get into U of Chicago, then apply to a shitload of schools (Brandeis is next on my list. Then Carnegie Mellon, Wesleyan, Tufts, etc...). If I do get in, apply only to Brown, Dartmouth, and Yale(I might still apply to Brandeis and Tufts. I hear only good things about these schools.). Maybe UPenn if I'm feeling up to it.

...Yeah, you can ignore this post. I'm just trying to plan out the rest of my life.
