Teacha, teacha!
I am a teacher!
Well, officially. I've really considered myself a teacher for a couple years now, but I now officially have my own classroom. A 6/7th grade classroom at St. Ann's Home and School in Methuen. Today was my second day and it's great! I really, really have my work cut out for me but I'm looking forward to this school year. And I'm actually really excited. I'm sure I'll have to remind myself of that when I have to restrain a kid. Hah. Unfortunately, I got in the second week of school, so that's tough. It's hard when you don't have the time before kids get there to plan the curriculum/ set up the classroom/ get all necessary trainings/meet staff & learn school procedure. So now I have to juggle that with actually teaching the kids. BUT! My assistant has been great, as has the aide that's in there temporarily. Honestly, there is so much going on in that school that I'll still be learning things right up until June.
I have lots and lots of planning to do before Monday. Tonight I'm going to take the night off. Then tomorrow I'm going to head to Teacher's Pet and do some shopping so I can decorate the classroom. Then it's off to Jonathan's party. Then Sunday I'll commit to planning. I cannot wait until things kind of settle down and then I'll really enjoy the planning. Right now things are just so jumbled and I feel kind of rushed so I can't enjoy it as much as I will later.
