Untitled S10 Snippets Why This Must Be Read: I'm not much of a fan of the last two seasons of SG-1; to date, I've only made a single post-S8 rec, and that one heavily featured Jack. But just to show that I can be fair about things, here are two fic snippets for the price of one, both featuring the Ori storyline and both wonderful snapshots of characterization and friendship.
The first is apocafic, featuring Landry - who I would actually like, onscreen, if he even vaguely resembled the guy in this snippet - and Walter. (Who doesn't love Walter?) It's bleak and beautiful and heart-wrenching, and it's a silent tribute to the characters we love.
And then there's the second, which picks up on a single throwaway line in S10 - "Langara fell" - and runs with it. Even non-S6 fans like me were frustrated and felt that Jonas deserved better than just a passing, unemotional remark from Sam. This snippet rectifies that in a beautifully satisfying and teamy moment.
If you like the newer seasons of SG-1, you'll love this. And if you don't care for it much, like me, try these snippets anyway. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
"Thank you Walter. We've been ordered to stand down and turn over Stargate Command to the prior commanding the Ori ship." Landry looked down at his hand. The key was heavy in his hand. "It's an order I intend to disregard."
"Yes, Sir."
For Colonel Carter, who proved herself worthy a thousand times over and still got a sideways look every time she walked in and had to command a new group of boys who thought they couldn't possibly have anything to learn from this woman. Who had the brilliance to be one of the wealthiest and most famous inventors and scientists of her time, but chose to serve her country, her planet, instead. Who lived for her science, but never forgot her humanity.
"You know you're obligated to shoot me right about now."
"With respect Sir, I know how much paperwork is generated by something like that, and I'd rather not."
