Today has been a wonderfully geeky day. The roommate and I have decided that this weekend is going to be Writer's Weekend in which we both try to finish SOMETHING story-related by Sunday night and cheer each other on/provide beta-reading services until then. Have I mentioned that she's awesome? Yes. She is.
We also went to the local thrift store to go Halloween-costume shopping. While I didn't find anything useful clothing-wise, I did manage to pick up two Stephen King books and a wilderness survival guide for under four bucks total. Sweet.
Speaking of Halloween, I'm quite torn between whether I should dress up as this guy --
Or this guy --
Zombie would be crazy-fun to do, and there is some absolutely stunning cosplay of him over on Deviantart, but I'd actually have to go out and buy an orange dress shirt and tie and makeup and figure out what the heck I'd do with my hair. Plus fewer people would recognize the reference. I have most of what I need for a Tony Stark costume and have even figured out how to make an arc reactor out of the bottom of a water bottle, tinfoil and glowsticks (never let it be said that I can't improvise!). It would be much easier (and the roommate is even contemplating going as Pepper Potts) and the engineers here would get it for sure, but I'm still highly tempted by the whole Zombie thing. What do you guys think?
...Apparently cross-dressing is very in this season, at least for me. *laughs*
We also dropped by a comic book shop, which I'd never been into before, and I got very distracted by some Dark Tower graphic novels (!) but held off on buying them for the time being. Still, awesome stuff. Later I'm going to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with a group of compadres to boot, and then having another Dexter marathon -- I have developed a newfound love for that show despite my squeamishness, and find it quite amusing that Mark Pellegrino’s part of it too. I am excite.
