July LRP

I got very nagged to attend seaxe and sorcery. (They pronounce it 'sea axe' and sorcery... )
So I gave in and last weekend went camping at a scout site near purfleet.
It was a pleasant weekend, camping in a field near some pretty woodland. (with the added perk that after a wander around the woodland, as I had the 'forage' skill, I could ask a ref if I'd found anything of note.)
IC bar, nicely dressed command tent, terribly disorganised IC (although OOC organised enough to provide a very large paddling pool for the kids, and later the costume-heavy characters, given the heat (a family-friendly event), and the linear I went on wasn't linear - even if the two dodgy party members hadn't investigated the area previously and had not spotted the alternative route, we still would have had assorted route choices. I also got major brownie points for treating one of the Fae characters correctly IC, instead of reacting to the fact he was a bloke playing a character in a female body (He was too impressed that I called him 'bimbo' to be properly annoyed IC.) :-)

This weekend is PD, where I get to camp in a carpark, which is unpleasant and unsafe. I'm trying to find some keen, but I like research, logistics, logic, guarding (you get to meet all sorts of people when gate and bodyguarding) and tent-dressing.

I can't see any point in getting the mages organised - they don't offer skills/knowledge/power. There's no roleplaying involved in learning new skills. No-one runs the ritual circles, or needs to, as you can do rituals anywhere. The transport-to-the-mages-conferenceroom spell works anywhere, apart from at events. where it only works in the stone circle. If the system allowed FOIP or Research, I'd be interested in working out what's blocking the spell - but as the system is set-up to not need research or FOIP, looks like it's just another indication of the system writers not working out the game logistics. There's no glossary in the wiki, no proper rulebook, and no explanation how to actually undertake assorted skills. I should not have to email PD to find out if I need a ref to run a ritual, that should be the basic info in the rulebook.
