It seems like a completely random question but it really is something I've been thinking about recently.

I read a lot so in some ways fanfiction was a godsend for me.  It certainly cut down on the amount of money I spent on books, not to mention gave me something new to read while I was waiting for new books to come out.

Unfortunately its all too easy to get caughtup in and not do the things you're supposed to be doing.
