Artist pursuits

I have one full day left in Alabama. It's hard to believe. But that's not what I want to post about oddly. I want to share a project I finished. No, it's not a writing one, but my adventures in furniture restoration...sort of.

So about a month ago, my parents' church had a big yard sale and my mom came home with this.

It has all the drawers by the way...I took this right as my dad and I started our "restoration" efforts. It also had all it's handles. It was just white and a mess and...yeah.

Here's one of the drawers before...

And here it is stripped of paint but prior to sanding.

So after much labor of stripping paint, loads of sanding, and lots of my dad being awesome, this is what came to be under two layers of paint (white and then green).

Unfortunately, we couldn't sand off all the traces of green paint in some of the cracks and crevices. So I had to decide what color to paint the dresser. I wanted something light, but not white. And green would clash with my new couch, so I went with a cheerful pale yellow. It turned out like this.

Anyway, now that I'm finished with messing with old furniture and packing, I'm back to writing. Or well, trying to write. I haven't been able to stick with a idea long enough to make progress yet. I'm still apparently in the "trying it on, but not sure I wanna buy" phase.

My top options thus far are these:
1. Bug-loving, island girl who can literally change her face must confront mirror monsters to save herself, her best friend, and her radical-minded love interest. Modern-day with a fantasy twist.
2. A demon hunter's daughter and a necromancer's son team up to keep a town full of demons and the ones who hunt them from breaking into a pseudo-civil war. Suburban fantasy.
3. Two con artist brothers stumble upon a secret and end up in the service of a spymaster who wants to reinstate an exiled prince to his throne. Steampunk.
4. A self-loathing shifter and his sister enter a cat-and-mouse game with a scientist who may or may not want them both dead. Steampunk. I promise it is...also, I really suck at trying to summarize this one.

I adore all of these characters, but I'm not sure which is the most interesting/original. Guess I'll just keep playing with ideas.
