But he had not, he thinks, promised her that everything would be okay. He knew the truth of Yuuko's words even before they had left the witch's lips; knew that there was nothing he could promise or pay to pry her safely from her self-built walls.
He had promised her that he would stay.
And if he cannot negate the black force coiling so thickly throughout her veins, he believes it can at least be balanced by the light she infuses through his, and this is the thing in which he chooses to have faith.
