The new IT: Three Rivers

Nov 25, 2009 00:55

Even for me, both ER and House is way too loaded with medical mumbo jumbo. So, when i found out Three Rivers, i first thought this was going to be just another drama with a) Applied medicine for interns and residents, b) doctors and the rest of the medical staff jumping each other.

There is none of b to be seen yet, and just enough of a to keep things real.

The real deal is about the whole process of organ donation/transplantation. How one comes to need an organ. How one comes to donate it. In this series, you see them juxtaposed. Sometimes even clashed. And our three doctor are stuck in between.

Speaking about these doctors, i must i am quite pleased. *grin* I mean, look at them. Unfortunately, doctors in real life are hardly that fit, handsome and awesome with a heart of gold at the same time. I have seen Alex O'Loughlin before in Moonlight, thought him cute. Now, as a doctor, he seems more attainable.

It is my first time watching Daniel Henney (well, imdb says he was in X-Men Origins but i can't recall), and i am forever mad at Hollywood for depicting surgery residents. I remember my department, and it was full of pigheaded perverts. Male predominant.

Which brings me to the ladies. Katherine Moennig is quite famous with her role as androgynous hot stuff Shane in The L Word. Even though that was not my cup of tea, she has something that captivates you. Has to be what people call talent. And I can see the allure. To quote the official site;

"Director Christine Moore had this to say: "Kate is so expressive and has amazing instincts. That sounds cliche, but I truly mean it. I often think she could do an entire episode without speaking and the audience would know exactly what her character was feeling. She is a really genuine person, no bullshit at all."

Here, she is one of the three, has low tolerance for nonsense, which i like most. (I mean she broke a nose to get a heart). And i like this rebellious, messy look she has all the time. That's how a resident looks like.

All the nurses except one are obviously models or something like that. They get around like dolls. It's irritating. Like the leading actors, these nurses are too good-looking to be true. *sniff*

That was me complaining for my settings, not for the show. Because the show blew my mind off. Really. I have gotten teary-eyed at least twice now. The events, the stories are so familiar it hurts. Can't help but feel for these patients. And i like happy endings Three Rivers offers. I know it's a fairytale in and of its own, but it's still nice to watch it happen.
