Dysthymic? Hard to spell, harder to be?

Le Gasp!

I have a friend doing residency in psychiatry. Last time we met (just before her wedding), she told me that now she knew what i was; dysthymic.
Even though i finished medschool too, psychiatry was never my forte, so, not to look stupid, i didn't ask what that was. Checked it soon as i got home. For short, it means chronic depression. In layman terms, long-time depression. I was like, who, me?? Then i did this depression test here. Not that it has any diagnostic value or clinical significance, but still.

Objection, your honour! Just because i don't have an all-roses look on life and try to see things as they really are, both good and bad, doesn't mean i am depressed or whatever clinical term they make up for it. I am a realist, that's what i am. No pink glasses, and no excess gloom, just stark naked truth.

I could be happy for having a friend who got her books right though. After i calm down, that is. And i am not as mad as i sound. That's me being drama queen. Also good to know i don't have postpartum depression either. See, i can see good in life.
