Plain and simple: who is your favorite character on Battlestar Galactica? Has this person always been your favorite? What is it about this person that strikes you?I'll try to keep my response short and sweet. If you're reading this, you'll more than likely already know that my favorite character on the show is Laura Roslin. She hasn't always been ( Read more... )

three days late, but i can't help answering that...

laura roslin. definitely...

why? well, because she's very human, very complex, and very conflicted. she's adorable, infuriating, sad, bitchy and everything in between. as far as i can tell, best female character ever created. not because she's perfect, but exactly because isn't. i love her inner strenght and resolve, her tenderness, her sadness and the way she always puts the interest of others before hers. i love how she's willing to sacrifice her own soul for the fleet, how she sacrifices personal conviction for the people, how she fights to the end for what she believes is right. and, somewhere underneath all that strenght, there's this amazingly sensitive and lonely woman, and that just makes me love her even more.

it's funny how i "get" laura even when i don't agree with her decisions. i can see where she's coming from, and i can admit to myself that in those situations, i would have done the same. i can't say that for many charcters.

sometimes, more often than i'd like to admit, i find myself tearing up when i think of her. i think she is, underneath it all, an imenselly tragic character. i don't think i've ever cried for someone, just cried for them, for no apparent reason. but i cried for laura roslin.

then of course there's also the fact that she's portrayed by mary mcdonnell, who is absolutely fabulous, and laura wouldn't be half of what she is with anyone else playing her. she brings out the human being in laura, or whatever else lies under the presidential/prophetic aura, and that's beautiful.

i could go on and on about how much i love laura, because, well... i just could. :) but i'll stop here before i run out of comment space. :)

my second fave character is gaius baltar, btw. he's amazingly shakespearean, and i just love him and his little toy-cylon. :) he's a nutcase, and james callis portrays him wonderfully...

ps. lee i like cuz he's hot

Dude. You totally blew me away with your response. You just put everything into perfect perspective. I honestly don't know how to respond to that!

And, yes. Lee. Hotness. Mmmmmph. That I can easily respond to. *g*

I can't not like Lee. He reminds me too much of myself. If I bitched and moaned at everything he did, I should be bitching and moaning at everything I do. We have a lot of the same flaws and issues.
