Plain and simple: who is your favorite character on Battlestar Galactica? Has this person always been your favorite? What is it about this person that strikes you?

I'll try to keep my response short and sweet. If you're reading this, you'll more than likely already know that my favorite character on the show is Laura Roslin. She hasn't always been my favorite; Starbuck held that top spot for a long time, but as the show evolved, I found myself more fascinated by the one character I didn't understand. Kara Thrace, the severely flawed, hotshot pilot I get. Laura Roslin... No. I don't understand her, and I've always been intrigued by what I don't understand.

She has warmed my heart, she has infuriated me beyond reason, she has frightened me by her ruthlessness, she has made me re-think some of the issues I always thought of as black and white, she has intimidated me, she has made me realize each day is precious, and she has made me want to defend her against anyone who would speak ill of her. It's a strange love-hate relationship that drives me nuts sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Laura Roslin is one of the most well-written fictional characters, male or female, ever created, and I thank Ron, David, and most especially Mary for bringing her to life.

Oh, and plenty of snarffles for oxygenfreereba for making me a new Laura icon. *smoochies*
