The last hole
That sounds vaguely naughty or ominous. I can't decide which. Anyway...
About a half hour ago I hit an important milestone: I finished digging last 24 inch deep hole for the cedar fence posts. No more whacking at bone dry, hard packed soil with a shovel, tamping bar, and post hole digger for me! :D
The fence isn't done, however. Next weekend I'll rent a gas-powered post hole digger to dig holes for the gate posts and the few remaining posts. Once I learned that the gate posts must be set two to three times deeper than the others all "I don't need no stinkin' machine!" stubbornness evaporated. Viva the industrial revolution! :)
