Christmas Time

First off, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! (OK, it's a little late, but I've abstained from the computer until now!) (Oh, and Happy Hannukah and/or Kwanzaa for anyone who celebrates those, and happy... day, I guess, for those who have no holiday!)

So, I'd say this was a pretty good year by my family's standards. There was only one small issue at my Dad's, and then like 2 fights all day between my mom's/aunt and uncle's. For the most part, we all gott along fine!

The one year that I couldn't afford to buy many gifts, I had to come up with some creative stuff. For Eddie I got the Scooby Doo boxers (I get him a pair every year) and then the basketball book and Duke hat that he wanted. Then I made amaretto cookies for him because he loves Disaronno and he also complained about his family's fake tree so I made him a little Charlie Brown tree with a branch from my dad's tree in a Mike's bottle and one ornament, hahaha. I also gave his mom this little cross-stitchy thing I made that says "Home is where the Heart is." It was cute. Gave my mom 2 candles and some blueberry pancake mix and my dad a UNH hat. Kelly was my secret santa person so I bought her this movie we watched on TNT like 4 years ago called Prince Charming. (I looked long and hard before realizing they probbaly had it on Amazon- I was right ;) ) She's watched it 3 times already! :)

As for me, I started out the day at Dad's. He and Nancy are a little on the broke side right now because of all the work they did on the beach house this summer, so we all got about 2 presents and a stocking. I got a reversible pink/orange vest that I picked out at Macy's with Nancy a week ago, so I was expecting it, but then I got TOTALLY taken by surprise when I opened my second gift- a black 30G video iPod. I had asked for an iPod waaaaaay back for my birthday, but was really not expecting one, so I had just mentioned an MP3 player for when I work out, like one of the $30 ones from Walmart. I was shocked. Then I came to Eddie's house for a bit and watched his family open presents. I love watching other people open presents as much as I love opening mine! I got some car air fresheners from his mom because she remembered I LOVED the way her car smells and am always complaing about how my dad's (which I drive when I'm home) reeks of smoke. She also got me a cool Indian-type belt/head scarf thing. I was the last one to open my presents, so I opneed Edie's last. It was a cute little teddy bear wearing a "Somebody from the University of Hartford Loves Me" shirt and tucked underneath was some paper. I pulled it out and it was an invoice for two FRONT ROW, AISLE SEAT tickets to Blue Man Group for the 27th (today!) We went and saw BMG a coupole years ago with my dad and Nancy, but it's a new show now and I have wanted to see it for awhile. Last time we were at the back of the theatre, too, and now we're FRONT ROW!! I am psyched; it's really interactive and who knows what might happen?! We have to wear ponchos, of course... heeheehee!

Um, then Eddie and I ran to my house so he could open his presents from Dad and Nancy (liquor, lol) then we went to my mom's and opened her gifts. I was once again SHOCKED when she handed me a big box and went, "Merry Christmas Katie!" and inside was a Nintendo Gamecube which I had mentioned literally once before my birthday, too, because I wanted to play Mario. I got the one that comes with Mario Party and an extra controller, and I also got 5 other games, like Crash Bandicoot (which I was obsessed with beatintg on the playstation I got for xmas like 6 years ago), Shrek 2, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros. I also got a memory card too. NOT expecting that at all! I also got Gilmore Girls Season 1 on DVD and some really cute shirts. My stocking was, as usual, one of my favorite parts. Dad and Nancy just don't understand, but my Mom does. She always gets these big gift bags and puts the stocking over the top, then fills the bags with all kinds of crazy and practical things like QTips and Deoderant and all that stuff you need but never want to waste your money buying. Then she throws in a bunch of candy (HP chocolate frogs and cockroach clusters for me! And Kisses!) and underwear and other cool things like that. I love my stockings at my mom's!

Then we went to Uncle Jacky's and hung out with the family. Actually, didn't see much of the atual family, hung out with the kids and Papa most of the day. He just had surgery so we all watched the Pop Warner Super Bowl on TV with him, lol. Had dinner and came home, polayed Mario Party with my mom, then went to bed. We woke up yesterday and watched the new Left Behind movie (Even under threat of excommunication, my mom and I still read the books and I took them as fiction- same as HP. I don't get the big deal the Catholic Church makes over books and movies. If you can differentiate between what you believe and what other people think, who cares? Are people's faith in the Church really THAT weak that they can't take the threat of them being swayed by what they're reading/watching? Ehhhh fodder for another post sometime, I guess) and then Prince CHarming with kelly. Then we played Mario Party and ate pizza until Eddie came over, and then we came back here to his house.

Now I have to go get ready to go to Boston.... YAY! Blue Man Group! I have the best boyfriend ever!!

blue man group, gifts, christmas
