This is my present:
click me! Yep, that's right: a puppy!
We went and got him last night up in Oklahoma. Know why? Cuz I have the best boyfriend in the whole world. But if you guys have been reading this for awhile, you already know that. So... now we know what a puppy mill looks like. When I talked to the lady on the phone, it sounded like a breeding at home, family kinda thing. It wasn't horrendous (the dogs didn't seem to be in poor health or anything), but they were very obviously not pets and the moms obviously just spent all their time in the crates having babies, which was sad. I know, I'm probably a horrible person for even buying a dog from a place like that, but... hell, you meet him and say you wouldn't have done it too :P
Our little Otis Driftwood is a bichon/shih tzu mix. We'd talked originally about getting a pure bred bichon and, mom, I'm sorry about the fact that the breeding thing won't work the way you wanted (though bichon-shih tzu mixes are also *extremely* popular and sell just as well as bichons, so... don't count it out), but... he was too sweet. He's friendly and affectionate but pretty low key. Which isn't to say there's no puppy playfullness, but he's also cool with just lying on your lap and chilling out.
So, anyway, I'm here at work wanting reaaaally badly to be at home playing with him and making sure he's okay. I know he is. He's in the bathroom (we have two "sections", and he's in the one without the tub and toilet) with his bed (it's awesome and blue and fuzzy like my socks) and toys and food and water and all that good stuff. So, anyway... whoo hoo! I can't wait to introduce him to Willow :)
...and I need to make more mood icons. Just for the record.
