rating: PG-13?
fandom: DBSK
pairing: Jaejoong/?
summary: Jaejoong thinks he likes the rain.
Comments: First ever (and probably only!) attempt at writing anything DBSK related. Short.

Jaejoong thinks he likes the rain. He thinks he likes the way it crashes down on the world in heavy sheets, smothering and soaking and cold. He thinks he likes the way everything glistens and shines after heavy rainfall, as if the earth has been cleansed, the filth and impurities of life rinsed out and washed away.

He thinks he likes the way it rolls down the human body, makes hair clutch helplessly at the face and neck, makes him look so small and vulnerable when he comes home soaking and shivering, asking Jaejoong to pretty please make him some nice hot soup to warm him up with.

Jaejoong thinks he likes the sun, too. He thinks he likes it when it’s especially hot, how the rays of heat beat mercilessly upon the world, stifles everything, makes it thick and difficult, like walking through cement. He thinks he likes the way it illuminates the world, pokes the shadows out of hiding, reveals the night’s secrets.

He thinks he likes the way that he looks, on a clear, sunny day, the light illuminating his newly died hair, practically makes him glow, and it’s so hot and humid and he begs Jaejoong for some ice cream just to cool himself down a little.

Jaejoong thinks he likes the dark. It’s easy to hide in, shadows and nooks and crannies everywhere. He likes how it covers secrets like a blanket, holds tightly onto the things that hide within it, reveals nothing. He thinks he likes the complete contrast between night and day, dark and light, how different the two of them are.

He thinks he likes it when the dark shrouds them completely and he can’t see him at all, how he has to rely on his other senses now, how he has to explore his body with something other than his eyes; traces the curve of a hip with his fingertips, the ridge of a collarbone with his tongue.

Jaejoong thinks he doesn’t like all of these things either, though. That rain is too wet, and the sun is too hot, and the dark is too complicated. He thinks that maybe all of them have their disadvantages, their difficulties; none of them are perfect (though maybe that’s what he really likes about them, their imperfections). Sometimes, when it rains, he wishes the sun was out, and sometimes when it’s sunny, he wishes it was dark.

He’s always there, already holding an umbrella over Jaejoong’s head whenever he gets caught in the rain. He’s there, too, when it’s too hot out, offering Jaejoong a drink from a chilled bottle of water. And he’s always there in the dark, arms around Jaejoong, holding him close and breathing heavily, the warmth of his skin and the emotion in his smile enough to illuminate things for Jaejoong.

He thinks perhaps his feelings towards these things are always going to be conflicting; they’re all always going to have their drawbacks. But this, this right here, the warmth in his arms and the press of his body, the softness of his lips and the heat of his breath makes Jaejoong think that some things are definitely - definitely - worth the drawbacks.
