1. Name: Lauren / Lo
2. Age: 19
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Hmm. I’m obsessed with Greece, especially the island of Santorini. The Greek Isles are one of the most beautiful places ever, all vibrant colors and gorgeous views., and it just seems so ethereal there. I would love to live there for maybe a year or two, but I think I’d miss home and my family and friends too much to stay there forever. More realistically, I’d also love to live in a big city - I grew up in the suburbs, but I’m such a city girl at heart.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
My Room of Requirement would be like the ideal version of my bedroom. Spacious and aity, it would be bright - lots of pink - and neat, with an area for my laptop and extensive music collection. It would have lots of electronics - my ipod, maybe a new video camera, stuff like that. Lots of framed photos of loved ones and drawings and such would cover the walls. A bunch of bookshelves filled with all my favorites, and a huge closet filled with amazing clothes.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
Like many others, I loathe and despise the characters such as Umbridge, Voldemort, Snape, Bellatrix, and Lucius because they’re horrible or evil and all that - no matter what side Snape’s on, he’s still not a good person, when it comes down to it. But one character that I dislike more and more each book, that many others adore, is Hagrid. For some reason, he really annoys me, which I feel bad saying, because he’s a good person and means well, but I don’t agree with a lot of his actions and decisions.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Half-full, absolutely. I’m ever the eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side, always hopeful for the future.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
” Events conspired to bring you back to where you’d been. It was what you did then that made all the difference: it was all about potential.” - The Truth About Forever
"I'm afraid of not having enough time. Not enough time to understand people, how they really are, or to be understood myself. I'm afraid of quick judgments and mistakes that everybody makes. You can't fix them without time. I'm afraid of seeing snapshots instead of movies." - The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
Although this question has me slightly torn, I’d have to say family. Family comes first, at least by a tiny margin. I love my family - especially my six year old sister; my grandmothers, with whom I’m especially close; and my aunt, who’s like the older sister I never had - and they mean so much to me. Familial bonds are everlasting and unparalleled - no one knows us in quite the same ways as our families do. After all, they’ve seen us grow and evolve - they’ve seen it all. They’re stuck with us, and we’re stuck with them. On the other hand, though, my friends do mean the world to me - growing up, I didn’t have a really close relationship with my parents, per se, but my friends were always there for me, and in a sense, became my family. I would give my life for any one of my closest friends without a moment’s hesitation. Obviously, I can talk to them about things I couldn’t discuss with my family and they know me just as well, if not better, but in a different way, I think, than my family does, if that makes sense.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
One memory that sticks out - and my dad takes immense pleasure in retelling - was when my neighbor and I, at the age of four, poured an entire container of baby powder all over the hardwood floors.. when we realized how big of a mess we had made, we started covering it with towels from the linen closet. When my dad came home from work, he saw cloudiness coming down the stairs, and initially thought that there was a fire upstairs. When he ran up and saw us covered with baby powder and the empty container on the floor, he couldn’t even get mad - he was so relieved we were okay, and thought the whole thing was just so funny, all he could do was laugh.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
My impatience. In general, I’m pretty laidback and calm, but I can’t stand waiting around. When I want something done, I want to do it now and I get really annoyed if something prevents me from doing it right away.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Absolutely! Nothing would have given me greater pleasure than to be participating in a group that was going against Umbridge. I don’t think I’d be able to sit around and do nothing about what was going on. I would probably be at least a little nervous about getting in trouble, but I would definitely risk it.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
In some cases, I hold everything in. In others, I can be incredibly emotional. Either way, though, blasting my music or writing things down helps me significantly.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
It would probably depend on the situation, but I’ll have to say justice. I consider myself a very compassionate person, and I'm frequently told that I'm too nice for my own good, but I’d rather see murderers punished, for example, rather than taken pity on and excused for their actions.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
An old soul. I love to have fun and be silly, but I’ve always been mature for my age. I’ve always been more comfortable meeting/talking to adults than people my own age. My freshman year, we read “Dandelion Wine” by Ray Bradbury, which contained a quote about how some people are just born with old souls.. these people feel everything more deeply than others.. just as a small insult could hurt them deeply, the smallest sight or sound could also bring them immense pleasure. It’s been four years since then, but it’s still stuck with me - I could identify with that so much.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Although I would want it to place me in Gryffindor, it would probably sort me into Ravenclaw. I’m book-smart and have a rather good memory, although my common sense fails me at times. I value bravery probably more than any other characteristic, but I don’t think I possess a significant amount of it myself.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
Gah, terrible quality and my hair’s all frizzy. But one of the only ones I have on my laptop:
