Future Options

I'm not freaking out yet about the lack of a position this fall yet. From my experience last year, I was hired 3 weeks before school started. Hopefully something will open up, even if it's another long term sub for half the year I'll take it (as long as it's close to where I live). Still waiting out for a full-time position at the moment. Maybe I don't know enough people or something but I haven't been getting even so much as a response from any districts I have applied to over the internet.

I started thinking about grad school. Thinking and researching schools that I would be interested in. I hung out with some friends on Friday night after work and one of them did get into an MFA program in the major I was interested in pursuing. I wondered, what exactly are you supposed to submit as a portfolio? Apparently it is supposed to be a small body of work with the same medium/theme. Of course personal meaning is the key to it all though! It makes me think before I even bother to apply and submit, I ought to work on a new series. One of my friends does photograms with cyanotypes on fabric of objects that have high personal significance. I'm wondering if I can expose mri films in this way...

Also, saw an interesting cult film this evening with my friend Rose. Repo! The Genetic Opera is basically if Blade Runner and Rocky Horror Picture Show decided to have a child. It's gothic to the extreme, fake bloody, hilarious cast-Giles from Buffy, Sarah Brightman, Nivek Ogre, Paris Hilton (who knew they would all be together?). It reminds me a little of the way my dreams are so strange at times.

PS. I think I saw a baby bear tonight driving home. Could it be true?
