So, two days ago I went to see Disney's
Bolt in full
stereoscopic 3D, together with eight guys from work. It was, in a word, awesome!
Having only seen the ridonculous locally dubbed trailers beforehand, my expectations were pretty low, but boy were they exceeded! The movie had quite some similarities to
Finding Nemo, and was about equally good. Everyone laughed a whole lot; I even cried a little bit.
The Bolt character was simply adorable-kudos to the animators and John Travolta for bringing him to life! I think it is fair to say that the 3D effects added an extra dimension to the experience, too. }:D
While Bolt certainly holds an extra appeal for furries, it is heartily recommended to both furs and non-furs alike.
Dragging my co-workers along was not as crazy as it may sound, since several of them actually do research on 3D video. Of course, the real reason I proposed this "field trip" was that I badly needed an excuse to go see Bolt myself. :) This turned out to be the best excuse ever since everyone had such a blast! Several people have told me they want to do something similar again. I feel very proud of myself both for coming up with the idea and making it all come together!
(I also saw
Yes Man at the cinema yesterday. It was quite decent, but not good enough to warrant a blog post of its own.)
