Xander wanted to hurt something. He wanted to hurt himself for being so stupid. He wanted to hurt Spike for the same reason. He wanted to hurt Anya for screwing up what he was about to finally have. He wanted the entire past year to just poof! and go away. But he knew it couldn’t. He couldn’t just get rid of all the lies and mistakes and pains. They were part of history now, a history that could never be rewritten - even by reincarnation.
On a good note, if the past year hadn’t happened he would never have been able to experience Spike like he did. True, it hadn’t happened on the best of evenings - the night before he was supposed to marry Anya - but it had happened. Spike and he…well, there were too many things to mention. But now that was all gone. His eyes left the computer screen where Spike and Anya were screwing on the Magic Box table and his fists unclenched. Then, he went for the axe. Someone or something would hurt. He just hoped it wouldn’t be him.
