The rule was, ‘whoever cooks or buys doesn’t clean’. That didn’t apply in all cases. As the three men argued over who was going to throw all the pizza boxes and beer cans away, Rangiku silently cleared the trash out and washed the mismatched dishes that had been used. She’d been around them long enough to know that they’d fuss until the dishes were crusty and the beer cans reeked. Without a word to them, she hopped up onto the only clean spot on the counter and watched the men, still verbally sparring. The family slurs, she expected, but what she didn’t expect was for Tetsu to move to stand in front of her, head canted towards her.
She never knew how to handle it when he thanked her.
