He wonders sometimes what would have happened if he believed her when she sat in his office the night after she was raped.
Every time she comes into the station with a look that says that she'd rather be anywhere but here, he thinks about a time that was easier for them. Well to be honest, easier for her because he is the sheriff while Keith just has that little business of his.
Would have everything in the past 2 years still have happened? Would she still be the thorn in his side that he's come to expect? Or would they still be back at the shy smile with minimal recognition that they were at when he was a deputy?
He's not sure which answer he wants so he tries not to think about it for long.
But sometimes it's not enough to change the fact that he does wonder.
