Things had started to change between them in ways that she couldn’t really understand. Cordelia was confused as Angel slowly started to change from the generous and caring person that she had fallen in love with. She didn’t like the new Angel who was angry and closed off from his friends. It made both working with him very difficult and she often found herself going home alone at the end of the night.
”I am tired of this Angel,” Cordelia said as she sat down on his bed.
”Tired of what?”
”Tired of your anger. Tired of being ignored. Tired of fighting with you while you go off and do whatever you want to do. Take your choice.”
”So what are you going to do?” Angel snarled.
”I am going to go back to Sunnydale for a bit.”
”And then what?”
”I don’t know, but you obviously need some time alone.”
”Cordy, you can’t just leave me.”
”Don’t Angel.” Cordelia said as she looked away from him.
“Don’t what?”
”Don’t try to convince me to stay. I think that it might be best for us.”
”If you leave, don’t expect me to welcome you with open arms.”
”Fine, I won’t.”
She stood up and she took a look around his room before folding her arms across her chest. She might love him but for whatever reason it didn’t seem as if her love was enough for him. Thoughts of Buffy and being inadequate in comparison to the blonde Slayer briefly filled her mind before she dismissed them. This wasn’t about Buffy; it was about her and Angel and how he had changed.
”You’ve changed Angel and I can’t help but think that you’ve changed because of me.”
”I haven’t changed.”
”Yes you have. Even Wesley’s noticed it.”
”So you think things will be better if you just leave.”
”No, not really. But I can’t stay here anymore. I love you Angel and if I stay, I don’t think I’ll be able to stay in love with you.”
”Fine, leave then.”
