Mikami is a boy who has been lonely for most of his life because he can "hear" when someone is going to die. The two find each other and love in the manga story. His trunks wet from the blow-up pool, he dropped in my lap, his face bright pink before he pushed it into my neck, his shoulders shaking violently. Nap forgotten, I scanned the yard. Just beyond, Uka’s sisters were laughing and splashing water; nothing had disturbed them. When Uka spoke, his voice was nearly a squeak.
“She called you my husband.” He was gasping, laughter barely in check and his arms squeezed tightly about my neck.
Smiling at his laughter, I held him in one arm, and kissed an ear. Behind his back, I showed Anna my thumb to the sky.
