The first time Tezuka saw Fuji, he knew there was something very different about the other boy... but exactly what that was, Tezuka had no clear idea.
At first, he thought it was Fuji’s ever present smile. He had even heard some second year say that it was creepy. Tezuka had never thought so. He recognized defense when he saw it.
The first time Tezuka spoke to Fuji, he finally understood. Even with his eyes barely opened, Fuji had managed to see through his barriers.
And for the first time in a very long time, Tezuka felt thrill.
