“Doesn’t your dad hate me?”

Veronica rolled her eyes. “He doesn’t hate you.”

“I’m pretty sure you’re wrong,” Logan said. She sighed.

“He may not have liked you very much before, I’ll give you that. But that was years ago, Logan. You’ve changed, he’s changed. Everyone’s real big on change.”

Logan was silent as he parked the car. He sat back in the seat, clearly thinking about something, before turning towards Veronica. “Does he still have his gun and, more importantly, does he keep it handy? But most importantly, am I going to have to worry about losing any protruding body parts?”

Veronica made a face. “That’s disgusting.”

“Hey, it’d be your loss too, sweetheart.”

She stared at him for a few moments before shaking her head and getting out of the car. “Pervert.”

“Yeah, well, you love me because of it,” he joked as he got out of the car as well.

“Remind why I put up with you?”

“My sparkling personality? The witty banter? I’m just damn sexy?” He smirked at her. “Or how about all of the above?”

“No, I don’t think it’s any of those.”

“The money, then.”

“No, not that either.”

Logan turned to her and let out a fake gasp. “Then you must really like me for me. Why, I’m so honored, I don’t know what to do.”

Veronica snorted. “How about behaving for once?”

“Where’s the fun in that?”

“There’s plenty of fun in that…later, when my dad is in bed and in the land of denial when it comes to me and sex.”

Logan turned and stared at her. “Why didn’t you just say so?” he asked, taking her hand and pulling her towards the door. “Come on. Let’s go visit with the family.”

Veronica was still laughing as he knocked on the door.

Life with Logan was never dull.
