girls gone wild

Last night was Hot Date Night with evie42! Woo! Her co-worker had given her an invitation to a swank private sales event at Tiffany & Co. The invitation-only party had live music, free food from Ruth's Chris, an open bar, and lots of jewelry. The intent was supposedly to fill out your Christmas list - gifts that you want, and gifts that you want to give.

Let's be honest: we were there for the free food and drinks. When we arrived, the women ahead of us turned around and gave us a big ol' hairy eyeball. No one told us we had to be over 40 and snobby to attend, just invited! It was fun to look, though, and Eve tried on a few different wedding band styles to see what type looked best with her engagement ring. Why not, we were already there?

After some browsing (and two glasses of wine -- and um, let's say two trips to the dessert table), we felt like we'd seen enough. Tiffany's has some beautiful jewelry, and some expensive jewelry. Not all of it is both. It was a nice venue for an evening out, though, and the price was right!

There was food at the event, but we needed a little more time to soak up our generous pours of wine. We decided to try out the newest location of McCormick & Schmick's in the same upscale shopping center as Tiffany's. A little calamari, an oyster sampler, and a giant piece of chocolate cake later, we were ready to brave the cold again!

It was an enjoyable night, even without the boys. I always have fun with Eve and like to imagine casually overhearing our conversations. They tend to ricochet cavalierly from shoes and makeup to our retirement portfolios and video games, sewing, eBay, and back to designer clothing. It's a bit of an odd spread, but that's how we like it.
