Etsy (your place to buy and sell all things handmade) is a dangerous place full of adorable, amazing, and awful things. My favorite method of staring danger in the face: Pounce.
Pounce allows to you see up to 10 listings in one of two categories: Undiscovered and Just Sold. Undiscovered shows shops with new listings that have yet to sell an item whereas Just Sold shows you a list of the most recent purchases on the site. And like the slot machine, it is a monster.
Human behavior studies show that slot machines are effective because people respond best when offered regular-but-unpredictable rewards. You may get a screen full of stuff you aren't interested in. Or you might find this shop, or this one, or even this one. Even if you're just window shopping, it's amusing and often lovely.
