They were saying on the news this morning that opening day for the Sox should be a holiday. And I think they are right. (By the way, Sox won today.... woooooooot!)
Today was the weekly staff meeting, and we were talking about how we couldn't watch the game on the TVs in the cafe (all they get on there are news channels) or listen to it on the radio (they do electromagnetic testing at our facility - I can usually listen to the radio in the mornings with no problems, but come afternoon it's all static - guess that's when they turn on whatever machine it is they need downstairs). David happened to mention, "Does anyone have tickets to the game today?" and when I said "No, but I'm going tomorrow" there was near chaos in that small conference room, particularly when I revealed that (a) I have never been to Fenway before (although certainly, that will be fixed tomorrow) and (b) my dad gave me the tickets because he did not want them (someone said something about how he should go into a psychiatric ward because of that, haha). "The other" Stacey said I probably should have sold them on eBay and made a tidy profit off of them... which is all well and good, but I don't actually have the tickets, and besides, see point (a) above.
Anyway, it should be really interesting tomorrow when I send my "I'm leaving early" email to the group. I think I created a lot of jealousy this morning. :)
In other news, I am proud of myself: I took a bike ride for the first time in maybe a year or two. After work I went out and rode down to the school down the street. That's not very far, but far enough considering how long it had been since I'd been on a bicycle. I had to walk it on some of the "bigger" hills (which aren't really all that big - again, it's been a while!) but otherwise I think I did pretty well. I found out very quickly that the ride down to the school is pretty much all downhill, and it's uphill all the way back. Darn... wish it was the other way around. ;) Anyway, I hope to ride the bike often this spring/summer, and get myself into better shape... those little hills will be nothing!! And hey, maybe with any luck or skill, I could even ride my bike into another town sometime... heh.
I am psyched. It's after 7:00 pm and it is still light out. In fact, the sun is just in the middle of setting. Hooray for springing forward!!
