He is BACK in the hospital (Christ Hospital this time at least) because he woke up yesterday morning (around 3) with terrible chest pains and they don’t really know the cause yet so they are going to keep him there through Friday (at least, he thinks he will go home then, I don’t). I spent most of the day in the ER (with some time out to run to the last hospital he was in to pick up the last round of heart tests that they ran on him). They did an EKG, a Chest X-Ray and numerous blood tests to try and pinpoint what is going on with his heart and although he does have SEVERE blockages (an 80% and 90% in the same damn artery) they could not establish that the heart is the source of the problem for THIS issue.
He is scheduled for a colonoscopy tomorrow to rule out any internal bleeding and from there we will start talking about options regarding the blockages with his heart. He is supposed to be going to Florida on 11/15/07 for a wedding for extended family of his so we have to see if that is something that can still happen, he really wants to go and I hope that he can but I am nervous about him flying.
I have the UTMOST confidence in his new doctors since they actually address his questions and talk to us about what they are doing. They are also very easy to contact and were more attentive to him yesterday than the other doctors were when he was in the hospital. His “primary” doctor never even bothered to show up at the hospital. I was so irritated. So I made some calls and brought in MY doctors and he finally got the care he should have been getting all along which makes me feel so much better about the whole situation. I just feel like he is going to be given the best possible care and that makes me happy, it is easier to concentrate on work when I know that he has people looking out for his best interests. Just because he is 80 does NOT mean that he doesn’t have a right to the best medical attention available. He is not expendable and his quality of life is just as important as anyone else’s.
