Worst Dream Ever.

Feb 09, 2008 05:17

Like whoa. Ouch. I hurt right now and woke up with tears in my eyes and a heavy feeling in my chest. It's soo amazing how real dreams can feel.

Oddly my phone is ringing right now and it's one of my close friends. Weird.

I have been dreaming and remember my dreams a lot lately. Good thing they are only dreams!

I LOVE to wake up and remember my dreams because it doesn't happen very often, but this one was just super intense. Very interesting what things come out in a dream.

i'm not remembering them so much as i am waking up feeling angry - well angry isn't the right word, i'll sometimes be in the middle of shouting something in my dream and wake up as though i'm aout to yell something...or all sweaty like i'm running or something, heart racing, etc... not angry, but emotional? excited? no, that makes it sound like i'm waking up all horny...though there is always the morning wood...

wow that came out all wrong.

i should use the delete button right now, but no. HAH! you have to bask in all the wonder that is my crazy!

I've been taking a supplement for running called ZMA* which makes my dreams crazy-vivid and real. If you google ZMA and dreams, you will see what I mean. The first week or two was ridiculous. I would wake up fully talking or yelling. My cats would be really disturbed and hiding, suggesting I had been at it for a while. To top it off, I also take 50mg of trazodone every night for a persistent insomnia problem. In much higher doses it is a really old-school antidepressant, but it's commonly used off-label now in low dose for insomnia, as it provides deeper sleep with longer REM stages. My dreams are like full-length movies now, and I can recall them perfectly.

*ZMA is specific, fairly large amounts of B6, magnesium and zinc. Bodybuilders take it, but it's actually much better for runners/cyclists etc. for recovery... the only peer-reviewed research on it suggests that it's good for aerobic activity recovery only.

Wow. That's pretty interesting. I'm kind of jealous. ;)

Thanks for the information too! I've been taking step classes and out ZMA might be good for me.

"Woah. Trazadone as an antidepressant and for insomnia?!"

Well, the two doses for the two different things are very different in the way that they work. Here's a comparison - let's say I drink one beer a night to aid in relaxation, and you drink 6. When I say my one beer does nothing but mildly relax me, you are amazed that it doesn't do more, considering your experience with six beers.

In low dose, trazodone has literally none of the effects it has at higher doses, except for the tiredness; hence it's usefulness in people who aren't necessarily depressed, but can't sleep.

When I was in grade school, I would dream about somethign and it would come true within a few days.

Maybe your subconscious is trying to tell you something?
