This was a great weekend! I am not really good at being the center of everyone's attention, but I decided that there is never going to be another opportunity where it's going to be all about me, like these past few months leading up to the wedding...well all about me and Matt anyways:) So, I decided to embrace it!
Saturday night, our friends, Courtney and Ian threw us an awesome Stag and Doe! If you want to see some pictures, check out MyMSNSpace at
http://spaces.msn.com/secsplace Matt and I were very nervous, thinking at the beginning of the night that perhaps not too many people would come out. But we were very wrong! So many of our friends and family came out to support us and have a good time. It was so nice to see and so amazing to both of us. It really showed how much people do care about us and it's kinda overwhelming to think about.
It was a crazy, amazing night as people came to wish us well, buy us drinks and play some games. We had some raffle prizes and draws, and a contest to see who would get the most money to get a pie in the face. My future father-in-law put a $20 bill in my jar!!! Wait till his birthday! Apparently I had $7 more in my jar than Matt, and I was saving a ten to put in his, until the winner of the 50/50 draw put his winnings into my jar!! I am actually really surprised at how much people wanted to see a pie in my face...but I'm a good sport and put my garbage bag on and Matt gently smushed the pie in my face. I opened my eyes just in time to see his brother Josh come from behind and put a pie in Matt's face! Soooo funny and so surprising to both Matt and I! Good job guys!!
By the way, our DJ was really good, and if I hadn't already hired one for the wedding, I may have hired Ian! Matt and I also got up to say thanks for everyone for coming, and I thought I would have to do most of the talking, since Matt is so quiet. I said a few things, got really choked up and nervous and had to hand the mike over to Matt...who was awesome! He thanked everyone (some people twice!) and handled the mike really well. After we sat down, he got back up and got on again, only to tell everyone to quit buying him drinks and put that money in my jar for the pie in the face!! Amazing what a little liquid courage can do...can't wait to see how he does at the wedding!
Poor Courtney, after doing all that work last night and staying up so late for us, she had to get up early this morning to get everything ready for my 2nd shower. This shower was for my family, my mother's friends and my friends! It was another good turnout, so happy to see all my friends there and new friends getting to meet old friends. Sarah, Courtney and I were all co-ordinated in burgundy, but not on purpose, but I guess the wedding party is thinking alike! The decorator that we have hired for the wedding, helped out to decorate the hall where the shower was, and it was so pretty and I can't wait to see what she does for the wedding! The theme of the party of English Tea, so every table had a teapot, and finger sandwiches and everyone got cute slippers when they came in the door, and little gift bags Court made with chocolates and a bracelet and these Tea Bags that said Love is Brewing Stacey's Bridal Shower January 29th 2006....now seriously, how cool is that? There were lots of cool gifts, incl. some 'red face' items, but it wasn't too bad. I also enjoyed the games, which is cool, cause I normally do not like shower games. Although the toilet paper veil game got a little competitive and full contact!! Courtney did such a great job, and I hope it was worth all the stress, cause it was a really great weekend for me. I don't know how to show you how much I really appreciate everything you have done for us. I hope the Default concert helps:)
Matt and I are so blessed with all the family and friends we have surrounding us. And we are so thankful for that, this weekend taught us to be thankful for that.
