weirdtab posted a Washington Post article yesterday which mentioned that MD State Senator Dyson wants to introduce legislation to the state legislature to put St. Mary's under the purview of the University System of Maryland. I would just like to point out that you aren't really arguing your case here and you assume your audience knows what your talking about. Try making a cohesive statement and maybe we can all form an informed opinion.

As an alum and a State employee there are a lot of good and bad arguments for the change. But mostly I want to point out that if it happens, that doesn't mean anything will change it just means it could. Most likely you would loose the current Board of Directors and President, and I'm sorry if I don't see either of those as bad things as all they've done is made decisions that reflect poor planning and ruin a beautiful campus.

The emphasis on "research" brings in a lot of money, both State and Federal grants, which helps keep tuition costs lower. As for the attention on students, in my experience that varies on the department/major ( ... )
