yesterday my job entailed:
-chauffeuring
-hydraulics engineering
-sign painting
-welding

tomorrow: ?

i should note that i have questionable credentials (if any) for all skills beyond sign painting. and yet- none of it went badly.

i keep telling myself that this isn't going to work, but mostly i think it's just not going to work in the way i thought it would.

one obvious thing (well, it should have been obvious to me, at least)- i will not be sharing living space with the mad scientist. thinking about it, there are very, very few people with whom i am willing to spend 18 hours a day. steve, as nice a guy as he is, is not one of those people.

and it's becoming increasingly obvious that i'm going to have to establish some ground rules as to when i'm willing to talk about flying saucers. right now, i'm leaning towards 'never'.

on the good side of things:
-i'll probably be pimping myself out sporadically doing various applied science at about $45 an hour. i'm pretty sure this represents an improvement over the grad student rate of pay.
-i went to austin yesterday and got a case of crack salsa. while, as far as i know, the salsa in question does not contain actual crack, it's pretty damn hard to stop eating once you've started. i am embarking on a distribution program of this controlled substance to certain parties in the midwest and on the east coast, so if you are expecting a visit, prepare yourself for the crack.
-life feels pretty good right now, even if/when things are not going as planned.
