Finally, something more recent!

I'm finally caught up on the blogging! For now at least. I'm sure I'll forget something important and be behind in no time. :P

Anyway, Marcy and I went to NYC yesterday. It was fun, but we had to be on the bus at 7am, and that's before the shuttles start running so we had to walk all the way to Elwell in the dark, and we had to be up by 5:30 to go, and we didn't go to bed like 1:30 or 2... so, yeah. I didn't really sleep at all on the way up, just like two or three little ten-second naps while we were in Manhattan.

The trip was to go to the Met... I'd never been there, and Marcy has been there a bunch of times, so we mostly looked at stuff that I wanted to see. We checked out the Egyptian art, some Greek (at least I think it was Greek, not Roman) stuff, the African exhibit, and some of the Medieval/Victorian stuff. The Egyptian and Medieval were definitely the best... the Medieval was especially interesting because most of it looked like stuff my Nana has in her house. Apparently I'm going to inherit a huge collection of Medieval art someday. :P I have a bunch of pictures from the museum but they're on my phone so I'll have to send them all to my email address via picture message... so I'll get back to you on that. :P We ate lunch in the cafeteria in the basement of the Met... we figured it would be cheaper than whatever we could find outside, but it wasn't really. It was $13 for a sandwich, a little bag of chips, and a bottle of life water. Crazy. But the sandwich was really good so I guess I'll get over it.

After the Met, we decided to walk downtown so Marcy could go to this photography place for her honors project... only problem was, it was raining and we were already exhausted. It wasn't only drizzling a little at first, but by the time we left NYC at the end of the day, it was pouring and we were all soaked. But anyway, we walked... and walked... we were gonna look for a subway station even though it wasn't all that far because we were tired, but we can never find subway stations uptown. :P We eventually found it though, and it was pretty cool. There wasn't really a whole lot in it and it was all about the Spanish Civil War and WWII, but some of the pictures were nice. I would have been more into it if I hadn't been so tired. After that we went to Planet Hollywood, which was really good as always, but also really expensive... and after that we were planning on just going to where the bus was getting us, but it turned out we had more time than we thought we would, so we hung out at a Starbucks for a while, then headed for the bus.

I should mention that we watched Hairspray on my iPod on the way up to New York... because we watched it again on the way home. Way to feed that little obsession... we were really tired though, and we stayed awake for the whole thing... except for when Queen Latifah sings her march song. We both fell asleep during that song and we both woke up halfway through Without Love, and we were both irritated with ourselves for missing one of the best songs in the movie, but we were both too embarrassed to say anything about rewinding it to the other. We eventually confessed though, and rewound it since we both missed it. :P After that we were both wide awake, so after the movie we ended up lip syncing passionately at each other in the dark until the battery on my iPod died. :(

Debbie picked us up when we got back. I said to Marcy that calling her felt like I was calling my mom to pick me up after a field trip. Debbie apparently felt the same way. lol
