After more days of grey and rain, we finally got outside and spent a little time doing our gardening.
Yesterday we bought a few herbs, Italian oregano and 2 sweet basils, along with young cukes, a young honeydew and tomatoes, roma and juliet. The cukes and honeydew are still too young to plant, and the tomatoes will wait till tomorrow. But today we cleared the new side-front bed of the winter weeds, and planted down the basils and oregano. I split the oregano into 3 plant mounds, since it was a very full planter, and I want it to spread across that area. The basils were planted behind them, with the already planted rosemaries behind that. I am looking forward to more basil and oregano for our kitchen uses.
Rob spent his time mowing and chopping down some side weeds before it hurt too much to continue. However, his hands can now close tighter than before after that work, which is a good thing. My back is also cranky from the lack of activity till now, so we only did a short bit of work, but shorter is better than nothing.
I need to get out this week to the local plant nursery and see if they have any suitable blooming bushes for our front yard. Our two day lilies are looking really bad now and need replacing. I am pondering getting more lavender for that spot, as I love lavender - but I'd rather have something that blooms more often than lavender will do. Hopefully they will have something there that is suitable.
Otherwise, I've spent the past few days updating my web site (which I
posted about in my sewing blog), and also working on the revised look for our Baronial web site. When I get the go ahead, I'll post a link to that as well.
