How to get rid of FB/Twitter ticky boxes

Sep 01, 2010 22:59

As forwarded from ciorstan with great thanks! It is a temp fix until LJ removes the whole crossposting issue. At least now folks wont be tempted or accidentally tab the boxes.

From tashabear :

"I think the original source of this is from dydan via unmutual's post. I'm not knowledgeable enough to parse what xnguard posted about, so I'll share the general 'fix' I've been seeing:

Here's what you gotta do.

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style"
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in that line:

.b-repost-item {display:none}

Once that's in there, you want to SAVE the changes, and you should be done. Leave everything else as it is (unless you want to remove more things!)."

The result should be that the repost ticky-boxes are no longer displayed.

I've done it, and it seems to have worked for me. Let me know if you guys see the ticky boxes when you comment.

BTW, sarahbellem says there is a poll on this whole Crossposting to FB/Twitter that is on this page: http://community.livejournal.com/thequestionclub/86168785.html
Seems an LJ staffer suggested folks vote there, as mentioned deep within the News page comments.

Go vote.

Also let LJ know through the feedback link mentioned in comments from dazeoflaur here.
