Mineral makeup, the results

Today I wore the whole new mineral kit & kaboodle (man, I miss my old Kaboodle sometimes) before I left the house. I wore it all day long, including while I was cleaning up the living room. It looked good in the daylight, so I didn't think I was wearing a mask (a good thing). And I only had to take it off just a short while ago, because I got something in my eye, and couldn't get it from making my eyes tear until the eye makeup was removed.

Last night, when I only had part of my face covered in the stuff, I noticed that my forehead was covered in its usual oils by the end of the night, while the cheeks were relatively matte and dry looking. I was surprised that tonight, when I removed the makeup, my whole face looked rather matte and dry. I could sort-of feel the oils underneath, but I couldn't see it unless I looked really close. So... this is a big thumbs up!

The colors I got...

* Concealer: Multi-Tasking, which covered the blemishes, and blended in with my foundation very nicely. Good.
Foundation: Olive Sandy, which has the right blend of both yellow and pink that exactly matches my skin tone. But I feel like I am looking a little more yellow in indoor lighting. I am not sure yet how it looks outdoors, but in my car's rear view mirror I looked good. Mostly Good.
* Cheeks: I tried their extra sample, Bouquet, which after three layers barely showed up on my skin. Not good. The Plum color was too strong, so I might mix the two colors and see what happens.
* Eye shadows: Wild Flowers and Rare Silk, with eye lining in Morocco.
  • Wild Flowers worked nicely, and wasn't too dark on my skin. Good.
  • Rare Silk disappeared on my upper lid, and I couldn't tell it was there. Neutral (I am trying for a natural look, after all).
  • Morocco was a deep rich color that I love, but not sure I want to use it as a liner, but it worked well. Good
* Lips: Bamboo. Matched my actual lip color almost perfectly, so it gave a little shine. But it felt and goes on like chap stick, and I don't like how it felt. More good than bad, but barely.
* Masquera: While not mineral, I used a new bottle of Neutragena's- some dark brown color. I think I need a charcoal black instead, as the brown was barely visible.

I used a new set of makeup tools that I bought from Target, Eco Tools 5 pc set. They worked very nicely for me, and nice thing is... they are made with bamboo handles (great renewable resource), and synthetic fibers (so no animals harmed - but I wonder what sort of synthetics) and are rather soft (I like soft). I also used the small kabuki brush I bought with the mineral makeup, which seemed to buff very nicely. But I want to get the long handled one, as this mini-kabuki is a bit too small in my hand.

So, overall I like what I got and used. I like how the mineral makeup feels on my skin, since I am not feeling any of it yet (except that lip balm), so I plan on using it some more. And maybe even getting a few more eye colors, and a better blush color.
