I know we talk more online than we do when we run into each other once a year at costume college, but my impression of you has always been positive. I never thought you looked "self defeated". You've always reminded me of an artistic person... It's hard to explain what I mean by "artistic"... It's not as simple as "makes art" or "is an artist"; maybe it's that exuding of creativity that people like us seem to project... I dunno. It's something though. Something other than "average". Like you have an inner spark... Gah, it's hard to verbalize this!
Basically, I see the majority of people as drones to a certain extent. They have no creative spark, no "life" on the inside. Or if they do, they can't access it, or won't access it, or only access it in socially normative ways like taking a quilting class at Joann's or scrapbooking. Then there's people like us, who have an inner life that is beyond the grasp of what is considered "normal". We do the kooky weird things that society raises an eyebrow at, and we're ok with it. We act out our fantasies, we try to bring our art to life, and we have a harder time fitting into the socially acceptable confines that the majority of others comply with.
That's painting it awfully black and white, and I really believe that it's a spectrum, but... Um... This is all just to say that you're not like the "normies" or the "mundanes". :)
Thank you for saying this. I have no idea what sort of personality I project to others, and I appreciate you trying to verbalize what is a visual thing. :-D
