Up the Skirt

I don't know why... but I never did upload a shot of what rolled pleats look like from the underside looking up. It got brought up on the GBACG list, so I uploaded a photo to share there, and figured I would share here for those who haven't tried it. I will have to add this to my web site sometime.

And for those of you who have the Hispanic Costume, 1480 - 1530 by Ruth Matilda Anderson, might recognize a short up the skirt of a man's statue, which looks similar (tho not as sloppy) in the pleats as this does. 1. It is a statue, of course the skirts will be perfect in their pleats. and 2. I think they would use stiffer or quilted fabrics in their skirts that hold pleats like that. I was just trying to get close to the client's chosen image, which wasn't stiff, so I added no stiffener.

But I do like rolled pleats. Well, back to pricking my fingers... I mean hand sewing the tabs on the effigy bodies
