Ah, finally some sewing time.

I was supposed to have a house guest today, who was going to do a fitting for her Tudor outfit... but she ended up with many house guests of her own, so it got cancelled. So I figured, hey, I cleaned up my sewing room a bit... why not enjoy the space and do some sewing of my own. I just have to remember to PUT IT AWAY when I am done, so it remains usable.

So, knowing I have my Baronial Yule Saturday after next, I decided I really should work on the loose gown I started a long time ago. I ended on the puff sleeves, and so it took me a bit to remember what all I was supposed to do. I have to say that I love silk organza as an interfacing... it is so nice & crisp, and looks all nice behind the silk broadcloth. I should have done more of it when I was interlining the puff... but I guess I didn't think about it then.

Thankfully the bulk of the trimming was done, but now was the tricky part, since I want the trim to continue onto the scalloped edge of the band, instead of going across the band like most other people seem to have done... yeah, I have to do something I've not done before just to do it. It is a pain, with lots of markings, and triple checking my markings, and I am still not sure I've got it right. I am taking a breather to type this while my trim is drying from its shrink steaming (ask me why I know to do that now).

Oh, I just remembered I also need to make the Polish style closures with buttons. I have the cord, and I know what to do... I will just have to sit and do them up this week, at least a few so I can close the top part. They are supposed to go completely down the front, but I guess how many I make will determine how far down I go for Yule... now get your head out of the gutter.

Anyway... I will try to take progress pics once the trim is doing what I want it to do. More later...
