Heavy fabric with heavy lining?

Something I was reading in one of my mailing lists, and it made me wonder.

Do you line your heavy weight brocade or velvet garments with a similar weight lining? If so, how do you sew them all together?

I am so used to lightweight linings, because of our hotter weather, that I just cannot comprehend that. I had a hard enough time lining my medium weight wool with a medium weight linen, and then sewing that to my bodice by hand. And it is heavy to wear, too.

Thoughts???
