Sewing sleeve puffs

May 28, 2008 16:33

Taking a small break from sewing. Yeah, I gave up on cleaning up the sewing room for a bit, as the sleeve puffs were calling to me, which is odd since I wasn't really in the mood to sew.

But fear not, I have been cleaning up here and there, since I am feeling much better (tho' I still have a tickle in my throat and a slightly runny nose). Cam's room HE actually picked up (mostly), and then I vacuumed it and cleaned up a couple of stains. The laundry has also been sorted, and some put away. Sometime soon I will tackle more of the dishes.

But sewing... I got started again last night on the sleeve puffs to the loose gown, and then promptly stuck on a portion of them. I was having a bit of a time figuring out how to piece some of the pieces together, but finally figured out where the seam crosses were, sorta, and was able to muddle the pieces together so they look right; tho they don't match up on the seam points. Today, I finished all the pieces to the puffs, pressed, clipped, notched, trimmed and finished the seam allowances. Not that the seams need finishing since they will be inside and unseen, but I prefer to use my pinking shears to finish and trim when possible. And to think I bought a serger in the hopes it would help me cut down on such seam finishes, but I've yet to figure out how to use that on curved seams. Maybe someday I should practice. So, a few hours later, the puffs are ready for trimming, which I will be doing some by hand, so they will sit on the curves nicer.

Sitting here, I am feeling tired; still? Man, I thought I was over this cold. Maybe I can sneak in a small nap before Cam returns from his bike ride with his friends.
